The phoenician civilisation often used the sacrifice of children to worship their gods. This is very different to our modern day society because we would never ever even think about killing an innocent child for the worship of a god. We prefer to just stick with praying to gods and lighting candles to worship them instead. In the ancient times, the phoenicians had a plethora of gods that they worshipped for even just the littlest things. Now in modern day life, we only really have about one god. They also heavily believe in the afterlife and believe that you have to be accepted into it. This is different to the modern day because we only really believe in things like heaven and say things like "everyone goes to heaven" rather than having to be accepted into it. Everyone nowadays has jewellery. It has become part of our everyday life. These are things like earrings, bracelets, man bracelets and anklets and so on. These are just thing that we add to our outfits as a sense of fashion. However, in the ancient times, have a piece of jewellery symbolised power and only the best of the best people got to wear it. We have also developed our writing skills more and so we can now write digitally and on our new technology such as laptops and phones. In saying this, there are also quite a lot of similarities. These are things like how we have a very similar alphabet, how we worship the gods with prayer, how we dance and sing in celebrations and also how we treat the dead the same (some civilisation mummified their dead bodies whereas we tend to just bury our loved ones in a coffin.
When you think about it, the ancient civilisations have deeply effected our society as we know it today.
